Tant saris are found in west Bengal,india .tant saris are pride of Bengal.these saris are made up of cotton and very famous for its lightness and transparency .due to which ,these saris are suitable for hot and humid climate of india.
Womens wear these saris as their daily basis .as these saris are
for daily basis their cost is also not so high .lowest cost of these saris are
350rs.tants saris, are found in varieties of colours and motifs on it.tants
saris has thick border and creative pattern drawn on it.
Some of traditional motifs found on tant saris are : bhomra , tabij , rajmahal , ardha-chandra , chandmala,
ansh , hathi , nilambari , ratan chokh , benki , tara , kalka and phool .
As modern trend is increasing
everywhere and also the taste of the
people are changing day by day ,so the
tant saris are introduce with some new patterns and hand painted designs. . A variation of the traditional tant has zari work woven into
the borders and pallav along the patterns of a Banarasi silk saree giving rise
to the ‘tant banarasi’ saree.
Tant sarees can be classified based on the
region where they are woven, or the motifs depicted on the sarees. The major
regions of tant production in West Bengal today are fulia ,shantipur,dhaniakhali,begampur,kalna
and atpur.
