PAITHANI SARIS


PAITHANI SARIS:-
Paithani saris are very famous  saris found  in Maharashtra.paithani saris are woven by hand.these saris are made from silk and zari.a very expensive silk threads are used to make these saris . these silks are charkha,ciddle-gatta  and china silk.
Paithani saris are of three types depending upon its motifs,colours and weaving .paithani saris has different-different names according to their colours such as  Kalichandrakala: pure black sari with red border, Raghu: parrot green coloured sari, Shirodak: pure white sari.
  In olden days these saris have gold and copper pallu, but later on  pallu of these saris are woven by zari,which is made up of silver and gold plated. Pallu borders of these saris have its specific motifs and patterns such as Muniya, Panja,Barwa, Laher, Muthada, Asawali, and Mor.
Motifs found in these saris are Kamal , Hans, Ashraffi , Asawalli (flowering vines), Bangadi Mor, Tota-Maina, Humarparinda, Amar Vell, Narali.Other motifs like circles, stars, kuyri, rui phool, kalas pakhhli, chandrakor, clusters of 3 leaves,were very common for the body of saris.
These saris are found in various colours such as yellow,Red,Lavender,Purple, sky blue,Magenta, peach pink, purple,Pearl pink, blue/green,Yellowish green,violet red,red and green, black and white, black and red.
These saris are one of the best option for maharashtrian womens . In maharastra functions like marriage ceremony and ganpati pooja’s are full of womens wearing paithani saris. paithani saris gives elegant and royal look .as these saris do not contain lots of stone work and other weaving ,they are very light in weight.
